Dental treatment
I perform simple or complex extractions with planning, clear instructions and follow-up according to each case.
I indicate a dental extraction when a tooth cannot reasonably be preserved or when keeping it compromises other treatments. I plan it taking diagnosis, difficulty and recovery into account.
The information on this page is general. Whether a treatment is suitable depends on an individual examination, diagnosis and discussion of the available options.

Frequent questions
An extraction may be necessary when a tooth cannot be predictably preserved because of advanced decay, fracture, infection, loss of periodontal support, severe mobility or lack of space in certain cases. A reasonable alternative to preserve it should always be assessed first.
Local anaesthetic is used during the extraction, so it should not hurt. Pressure or manipulation may be felt. Afterwards, discomfort, swelling or sensitivity for a few days is normal, depending on the complexity of the case.
Usually, it is recommended not to rinse forcefully during the first hours, to avoid smoking, not to touch the area, to follow hygiene instructions and to take prescribed medication if indicated. Specific instructions may vary depending on the type of extraction.
It depends on the area and function of the tooth, but tooth movement, bone loss, bite changes or overload of other teeth may occur. For this reason, replacement options should be considered when the extracted tooth has functional or aesthetic importance.
No. A simple extraction is not the same as a surgical extraction, a fractured root or an impacted wisdom tooth. Planning depends on the tooth position, anatomy, root condition, bone and proximity to sensitive structures.
